WHAT DO I DO during Monk Water Blessing?
Dress Code: Dress modestly when you arrive at the pagoda. You’ll be expected to cover your legs and shoulders and wear long-sleeved items of clothing.
Arrival and Respect: When meeting the monks, join your palms together in a prayer position, place your hands on your forehead, and gently bow to show respect and humility.
Offering Prayers: Sit quietly, listen to the monk's chants, and offer a prayer or personal wish for health, good fortune, or protection.
Receiving the Blessing: The monks will sprinkle or pour holy water on you, often accompanied by a chant. This symbolizes purification and spiritual protection. Kep West Wellness Center will provide slippers and sarongs for the pagoda, as you will get wet.
Symbolic Offerings: In the ceremony, you will be invited to offer milk, tea leaves and incense as a sign of respect and gratitude. The Wellness Center will prepare these offerings.
Mindfulness and Reflection: During the blessing, focus on mindfulness, breathe deeply, and reflect on your personal intentions and spiritual growth.
